流動|Flow
導言
Introduction
Flow is one of the clearest landscape relationships through which direction and change become visible.
Rivers extend, bend, split, and rejoin according to terrain; lakes allow water to pause and gather; waterfalls descend rapidly through changes in elevation; oceans contain waves, depth, tides, and large-scale circulation together.
A mineral specimen may not be moving now, yet fractures, colour bands, needle-like inclusions, veins, reflections, and growth layers can preserve paths and exchanges produced by earlier movement.
In the DIYU Reading System, Flow is read through direction, convergence, and transition.
河流
River
A river does not follow a line drawn in advance. It seeks lower ground, bends around resistance, may divide, and may converge again.
In minerals, elongated inclusions, filled fractures, veins passing through crystal and matrix, or continuous colour bands can create comparable readings.
What matters is whether a path carries origin, direction, and continuation—not whether it remains straight.
Reading impressions: movement, redirection, connection.
Lake
A lake is not completely still water. It is flow temporarily held and gathered by terrain.
Broad transparent zones, quiet colour fields, cavities, or coloured areas enclosed by boundaries can create comparable readings in minerals. Compared with a river, directional force becomes weaker while containment and area become more important.
Rest is not the opposite of flow; it is one phase of it.
Reading impressions: pause, containment, balance.
Waterfall
A waterfall appears when flow encounters a clear change in elevation and descends rapidly.
Downward crystals, vertical bands, pale inclusions, continuous reflections, or structures concentrated above and spreading below can create comparable readings in minerals.
A waterfall is not only speed; it is an interface where direction changes abruptly.
Reading impressions: descent, release, turning point.
海洋
Ocean
The ocean has no single direction. Waves, tides, depth, currents, and large-scale circulation coexist, placing movement inside a system much larger than one path.
Deep blue, blue-green, or grey-blue fields, broad transparent space, layered light, and repeating undulating textures may evoke oceanic readings in minerals. The important elements are not blue alone, but range, depth, and circulation.
Reading impressions: vastness, depth, circulation.
Flow in Minerals
To read flow in minerals, observe whether lines and inclusions carry direction; whether bands remain parallel, bend, divide, or converge; how fractures and veins cross crystal and matrix; how reflections shift with angle; whether changes in elevation create downward or outward paths; and whether transparent zones and boundaries form areas of containment.
Flow does not necessarily mean rapid forward movement. Rest, redirection, dispersion, and convergence are all parts of flow.
Reading Impressions
Flow is easily reduced to the idea of endless forward movement, but natural water does not behave that way.
Rivers move and redirect; lakes pause and contain; waterfalls release across elevation; oceans return multiple directions into circulation.
Flow therefore includes movement, rest, redirection, convergence, and cycle.
DIYU Reading
DIYU Reading
DIYU does not read Flow as a demand for constant change or endless progress.
Natural flow already includes movement and rest. Water redirects around terrain, slows when entering a lake, descends across a drop, and may eventually enter a larger circulation.
Stopping is not necessarily interruption, and changing direction is not necessarily deviation. Paths adjust to conditions and can still enter a larger whole.
To read Flow is not to require continuous movement, but to understand when to continue, when to remain, and how different paths may later converge again.
