Brandberg, in northwestern Namibia, is one of the world's best-known quartz collector localities. Ancient geology and quartz mineralization preserve varied records of crystal growth, while later exposure and preservation in an arid landscape make many of those differences visible today. Within DIYU Reading System, Brandberg represents a desert terroir and an important entry point for reading Namibian quartz.

布蘭德貝格是一座孤立於沙漠中的花崗岩山體。火成活動、熱液礦化與相關地質過程形成含石英的脈體；之後的抬升、侵蝕與風化使部分晶體被暴露，而乾燥環境也可能有利於某些標本的後期保存。晶體的生成與今日地表氣候造成的暴露、風化與保存，是兩個應分開閱讀的階段。

Brandberg is an isolated granite massif rising from the desert. Igneous activity, hydrothermal mineralization, and related geological processes produced quartz-bearing veins; later uplift, erosion, and weathering exposed some of the crystals, while arid conditions can contribute to their subsequent preservation. Crystal formation and the later effects of surface climate, exposure, and weathering are two stages that should be read separately.
