生命|Life
導言
Introduction
Life is one of the most immediately recognisable forms of growth and coverage in a landscape.
Forests build density through individuals of different heights; grasslands extend low, continuous vegetation across open ground; tundra sustains slow, ground-hugging growth under cold, wind, and limited conditions.
In minerals, green inclusions, fine crystals, layered associations, and surface coatings can create comparable readings. This does not mean minerals are biologically alive. Rather, natural systems at different scales can share relationships of growth, gathering, coverage, and adaptation.
In the DIYU Reading System, Life is read through growth, coverage, and coexistence.
森林
Forest
A forest is not a single tree, but a system of many individuals creating vertical layers, density, and interior space.
Dense chlorite, epidote, actinolite, or other prismatic and needle-like inclusions may evoke trunks, branches, and woodland. Yet the sense of a forest comes not from green alone, but from relationships between height, direction, density, and open space.
Reading impressions: density, layering, abundance.
草原
Grassland
Grassland does not build heavy vertical layers like a forest. It extends a lower, more continuous field of vegetation across open ground.
In minerals, evenly distributed green inclusions, short crystals, thin coatings, or gentle colour bands can create a comparable impression. The important feature is not one dominant crystal, but broad and continuous distribution.
Reading impressions: extension, openness, continuity.
苔原
Tundra
Tundra develops under cold, windy conditions with limited growing seasons. Vegetation tends to remain low and close to the ground, sustaining coverage through slower and more dispersed growth.
It is not a smaller forest, but a different life structure adapted to restriction. In minerals, thin chlorite coatings, moss-like inclusions, partial skins, and low fine crystals can create a comparable reading.
Reading impressions: low growth, adaptation, persistence.
Life in Minerals
To read a sense of life in minerals, observe whether green material is prismatic, flaky, granular, or cloud-like; whether it gathers densely or extends evenly; whether coatings preserve the form beneath them; how associated minerals attach, intersect, and grow together; and how open space contributes to the whole.
A reading of Life is not simply a reading of green. What matters is how structures gather, cover, distribute, and share space.
Reading Impressions
Life is easily reduced to abundance and increase, yet natural life also includes limitation, competition, space, and interruption.
Forests require room between different heights; grassland does not depend on the tallest individual; tundra shows that low, slow, and limited growth can still form a persistent living landscape.
Life therefore includes growth, gathering, coverage, adaptation, and coexistence.
DIYU Reading
DIYU Reading
DIYU does not read a sense of life in minerals as proof that crystals possess consciousness or healing abilities.
What matters is how we recognise growth-like relationships within mineral structures.
A crystal with green inclusions can resemble a forest not merely because it is green, but because density, height, direction, and open space work together. A low surface coating can resemble tundra not because abundance has failed, but because persistence has taken a form suited to its conditions.
Growth can move upward or outward, become dense or remain low. Life has no single form.
To read Life is not to demand rapid abundance, but to understand how each form finds a position within its conditions and participates in building a complete environment.
