幻影｜Phantom

幻影水晶（Phantom Quartz）不是「晶體裡又長了一顆晶體」，而是同一顆石英在不同生長階段留下的內部輪廓。

當石英生長暫時中斷，原有晶面可能覆上細微礦物、包裹體或沉積物；之後環境再次適合石英結晶，新一階段的石英便向外繼續生長，將早期晶體的形狀保留在內部。

因此，幻影真正值得閱讀的不是「幽靈」，而是一段沒有被抹去的生長紀錄。

Phantom Quartz does not contain a second crystal growing inside the first. The phantom is the preserved outline of an earlier growth stage within the same quartz crystal.

When quartz growth is interrupted, fine minerals, inclusions or deposits may settle on the existing crystal faces. If conditions later become favourable again, quartz resumes growth around that earlier surface, preserving its outline inside the later crystal.

What makes a phantom significant is therefore not the idea of a ghost, but the survival of an earlier stage within continued growth.

幻影是一種非常直觀的晶體生長紀錄。石英常在含矽流體環境中形成；當溫度、壓力、流體組成或供應條件改變時，晶體生長可能暫停，之後再重新開始。

停滯期間附著在早期晶面上的物質，會決定幻影的顏色與清晰程度。綠色幻影常可能與綠泥石等綠色礦物有關；紅色或褐色幻影可能與赤鐵礦、鐵氧化物等含鐵物質相關；白色或雲霧狀幻影可能來自細微礦物、流體包裹體或晶體生長界面；較深色的幻影則可能涉及不同的含鐵礦物或其他細微包裹物。

這些顏色不是一套固定的礦物分類，必須依實際標本判斷。對幻影而言，最穩定的閱讀重點始終是：舊有晶面被標記，晶體再次生長，於是先前的輪廓被封存在新的石英之中。

有些標本只保留一層幻影，有些則可見多次重複的輪廓。每一層，都可能對應一次不同的生長階段。

Phantoms are unusually clear records of crystal growth. Quartz commonly develops from silica-rich fluids, and changes in temperature, pressure, fluid chemistry or supply can interrupt growth before crystallisation resumes.

Material deposited on an earlier crystal face can influence the colour and definition of the phantom. Green phantoms are often associated with minerals such as chlorite; red or brown phantoms may be related to hematite, iron oxides or other iron-bearing material; white or cloudy phantoms can involve fine mineral or fluid inclusions and growth interfaces; darker phantoms may involve various iron-bearing minerals or other fine inclusions.

These colours are not a fixed mineral classification and must be interpreted specimen by specimen. The consistent structural principle is simpler: an earlier crystal surface is marked, quartz growth resumes, and that earlier outline becomes preserved inside later growth.

Some specimens preserve one phantom layer, while others record several repeated outlines, potentially representing multiple episodes of growth.

對人而言，幻影最直覺的魅力，是透明晶體中竟然還保留著一個更早的自己。這種視覺結構很自然地讓人聯想到記憶、過去、生命階段、時間與成長。

收藏市場因此發展出「綠幽靈、紅幽靈、白幽靈」等名稱，用來描述不同顏色與視覺效果。這些名稱具有實際的收藏與溝通功能，但並不是獨立的正式礦物種。

近代水晶文化也進一步把幻影與人生歷程、轉化、療癒或靈性成長連結。這些屬於文化與精神閱讀，而不是礦物學對幻影結構的科學結論。

科學描述它如何形成；人類則從它的形態裡讀出故事。幻影正好站在這兩種閱讀之間。

For human observers, the immediate fascination of a phantom is that an earlier version of the crystal remains visible inside its present form. This readily evokes memory, history, life stages, time and growth.

Collector terminology such as Green Phantom, Red Phantom and White Phantom developed to describe different colours and visual effects. These names are useful in the mineral market, but they are not separate formal mineral species.

Modern crystal culture has also associated phantoms with life journeys, transformation, healing and spiritual growth. Such meanings belong to cultural and spiritual interpretation rather than mineralogical conclusions about phantom structures.

Science describes how the structure forms; people create stories from what they see. Phantom Quartz sits naturally between those two readings.

幻影的核心不是顏色，而是「保留」。

早期晶體沒有因為新的生長而消失。新的石英包覆它、延續它，同時讓過去的輪廓仍然可見。

因此，幻影與一般包裹體最大的閱讀差異，在於它經常清楚呈現出晶體曾經完整存在過的形狀。它不是單一瞬間的裝飾，而是一段生長節奏被固定在晶體內部。

在反覆觀看之後，幻影逐漸累積出一組非常明確的氣質：時間、記錄、層次、延續。

The defining character of a phantom is not colour, but preservation.

The earlier crystal was not erased when growth resumed. Later quartz surrounds and extends it while allowing the previous outline to remain visible.

This is what makes a phantom particularly readable: it can preserve the recognisable geometry of an earlier crystal stage rather than merely a random inclusion. A sequence of growth becomes fixed inside the crystal.

Through repeated observation, Phantom Quartz comes to express time, record, layers and continuation.

DIYU 不把幻影讀成幽靈，也不把它當成某種超自然能力的證明。

真正值得閱讀的是：晶體沒有把過去的自己消除。

它只是繼續生長。

早期的輪廓仍然存在，只是被新的生長包覆。對人而言，這是一個很自然的比喻——童年的自己、年輕的自己、曾經迷惘或受傷的自己，都不會因為今天的我們出現而完全消失。

成長不是抹去過去，而是讓新的自己包覆曾經的自己。

Phantom，不是幽靈。它是時間留下的形狀。

DIYU does not read Phantom Quartz as a ghost, nor as proof of a supernatural ability.

What matters is that the crystal never erases its earlier form.

It simply continues to grow.

The earlier outline remains, surrounded by later growth. For human observers, this offers a natural metaphor: the child, the younger self, the confused self and the wounded self do not disappear simply because a later version of us exists.

Growth does not erase the past. It surrounds it with new experience.

Phantom is not a ghost. It is the shape left by time.
