在 DIYU Reading System 中,日光螢石閱讀的不是變色,而是回應。
Daylight Fluorite is not a separate mineral species, but a collector’s term for fluorite whose fluorescence is strong enough to be visible under natural daylight.
The best-known examples come from the Weardale mining district in northern England. Some green fluorite from this region appears emerald green under ordinary lighting, while ultraviolet radiation within daylight activates an additional blue-to-violet fluorescence, particularly along transparent areas and crystal edges. The Rogerley and Diana Maria mines are among its most recognised localities.
People are often drawn not only to the apparent change in colour, but also to the way the mineral responds to its surrounding light.
In the DIYU Reading System, Daylight Fluorite is not read through colour change, but through response.

日光螢光的形成,是因為自然日光本身含有紫外線。當紫外線進入晶體,部分能量被螢石中的發光中心吸收,再以可見光的形式釋放,因此人們能在不使用專用紫外線燈的情況下,看見螢光疊加於晶體原有的體色之上。
螢石的螢光通常與微量元素、稀土元素及晶格缺陷有關,其中二價銪常與藍色螢光反應相關;但實際反應仍會隨產地、晶體結構與成分而改變,並不是所有螢石都具有明顯的日光螢光。
因此,日光螢石並不是單純由綠色「變成」藍色。更準確地說,是晶體原有的綠色與受到日光激發的藍紫色螢光同時進入視線,共同形成新的觀看效果。
閱讀日光螢石,是在閱讀自然如何讓一種光線,喚起礦物對環境的回應。
Daylight fluorescence occurs because natural sunlight contains ultraviolet radiation. When this radiation enters the crystal, luminescent centres absorb part of its energy and release it again as visible light. The fluorescent response can therefore be observed without placing the specimen beneath a separate ultraviolet lamp.
Fluorescence in fluorite is commonly related to trace elements, rare-earth elements, and structural defects. Divalent europium is frequently associated with blue fluorescence, although the precise response varies with locality, composition, and crystal structure. Not every fluorite specimen displays noticeable daylight fluorescence.
Daylight Fluorite does not simply change from green into blue. Its original green body colour and its blue-violet fluorescence enter perception at the same time, producing a layered optical appearance.
To read Daylight Fluorite is to observe how a particular form of light awakens the mineral’s response to its environment.

Daylight is commonly associated with awareness, openness, movement, and active life.
When green fluorite develops a blue-violet glow in sunlight, it naturally evokes impressions of response, awakening, transition, and the multiple appearances that one object may reveal under different conditions.
Unlike Fluorescent Calcite, which is usually viewed through a deliberate change to ultraviolet illumination, Daylight Fluorite displays its unusual response within an ordinary natural setting. Body colour and fluorescence remain visible together.
In modern crystal culture, such optical reactions are also frequently interpreted through ideas of awareness, adaptation, flowing energy, and inner transformation.
These meanings are not functions inherent to fluorite. They emerge through human experiences of light, colour, and collective cultural imagination.

長時間閱讀日光螢石的人,常會發現,真正吸引人的並不是綠色變成藍色的瞬間,而是兩種色彩可以同時成立。
綠色沒有消失。
藍紫色也不是覆蓋於晶體表面的顏料。
隨著日光強度、觀看方向與晶體透明度改變,兩種視覺狀態會彼此交疊,使晶體呈現流動而難以固定的色彩邊界。
它不像螢光方解石在光線切換後揭露另一個面貌,而是在同一片日光中,讓不同面貌共同進入視線。

Those who spend time observing Daylight Fluorite often discover that its character lies not in the moment when green appears to become blue, but in the way both colours remain present.
The green does not disappear.
Nor is the blue-violet glow a pigment placed upon the crystal.
As daylight intensity, viewing direction, and crystal transparency shift, the two visual states overlap, producing boundaries of colour that remain fluid and difficult to fix.
Unlike Fluorescent Calcite, which reveals a different appearance after the illumination is changed, Daylight Fluorite allows multiple appearances to coexist within the same natural light.
Over time, it has come to embody response, overlap, movement, and change.
DIYU Reading
DIYU 不將日光螢石閱讀成能夠改變狀態的力量。
真正值得閱讀的,是礦物與環境之間如何形成回應。
日光沒有取代晶體原本的綠色,也沒有為它創造一個虛假的面貌。它只是提供了另一種條件,使原本不容易進入視線的反應,同時出現在人們眼前。
因此,綠色是真實的。
藍紫色螢光也是真實的。
它們不是互相否定的兩種答案,而是同一件事物在不同關係中,所呈現的不同面向。
閱讀日光螢石,不是在兩種顏色之間判斷哪一個才是真實。
而是理解:當環境改變,回應也會改變;不同的面貌,仍然可以共同構成完整。
DIYU does not read Daylight Fluorite as a power that changes states.
Instead, it explores the response formed between a mineral and its environment.
Daylight does not replace the crystal’s original green colour, nor does it create a false appearance. It simply provides the conditions through which a previously subtle response becomes visible.
The green is real.
The blue-violet fluorescence is equally real.
They are not contradictory answers, but different aspects revealed through different relationships.
To read Daylight Fluorite is not to decide which colour is the true one.
It is to understand that when conditions change, responses may change as well—and that different appearances can still belong to the same complete form.
