Mineral Landscape
Minerals are not literal mountains, forests, rivers, or canyons.
Yet when people observe crystals, they often recognise structures that resemble familiar natural landscapes.
A crystal termination narrowing upward may evoke a mountain peak. A cluster with varied heights may resemble a mountain range. Green inclusions may suggest forests, grasslands, or tundra, while fractures, colour bands, and mineral veins may recall rivers, canyons, and strata.
These associations are not formal mineralogical classifications, nor do they imply that a miniature natural landscape literally exists inside a crystal.
Mineral Landscape is a method of observation.
It begins with real mineral features—form, colour, inclusions, layers of growth, and traces of weathering—and compares them with natural structures familiar to human perception.
DIYU organises Mineral Landscape into five directions:
Elevation, Life, Flow, Time, and Transformation.
They are not five fixed meanings, but five different places from which observation may begin.
