尼泊爾位於喜馬拉雅山脈中央地帶。從南方低平的特萊平原向北，地勢在相對短的水平距離內迅速抬升，進入中山、深谷、高山與世界最高的一組山峰。

這種巨大的垂直尺度，使河流、聚落、道路、植被與氣候帶沿著高度重新排列。山谷既切開山體，也成為人與物資穿越高地的重要通道。

尼泊爾的礦物同樣與這個仍在活動的山脈系統相關。石英脈、偉晶岩與變質岩中的晶體，會隨母岩與構造位置不同而呈現不同的形態。

因此，國家層級的「尼泊爾水晶」只是一個入口。真正的閱讀仍需要進入象神山、安納普爾納、道拉吉里、朗塘與更具體的山谷和產區。

Nepal lies in the central Himalayas. From the low Terai plains in the south, the land rises rapidly over a relatively short horizontal distance into mid-hills, deep valleys, high mountains, and some of the highest peaks on Earth.

This immense vertical range rearranges rivers, settlements, roads, vegetation, and climate by elevation. Valleys cut through the mountains while also becoming corridors through which people and materials move.

Nepal’s minerals are tied to this still-active mountain system. Crystals in quartz veins, pegmatites, and metamorphic rocks take on different forms according to host rock and structural position.

“Nepal crystals” at the national scale are therefore only an entrance. A closer reading must move into Ganesh Himal, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Langtang, and more specific valleys and localities.

喜馬拉雅山脈形成於印度板塊向北移動並與歐亞板塊碰撞的過程。大約五千萬年前開始的碰撞至今仍在持續，使地殼縮短、增厚並抬升。

The Himalayas formed as the Indian Plate moved northward and collided with Eurasia. The collision, which began roughly fifty million years ago, continues today, shortening, thickening, and uplifting the crust.

Metamorphism, faulting, magmatism, and fluid circulation repeatedly transformed rocks at different depths. Quartz veins, pegmatites, and metamorphic mineral assemblages formed within this long sequence of change.

Nepal’s minerals are therefore not decorations added to the mountains; they are part of the processes by which the mountain belt formed, deformed, and was exposed.

如果從平面地圖閱讀尼泊爾，很容易忽略這片土地最直接的條件：高度。

對底域而言，尼泊爾更接近一種「經過」的閱讀。

在高度差極大的地方，移動很少是一條筆直的線。上升、下降、繞行、停留與重新選擇路徑，都是穿越山地的一部分。

這也改變我們觀看晶體的方式。包裹體、色帶、裂隙與共生礦物，不必先被視為瑕疵或象徵；它們可以先被理解為晶體生長過程中，環境曾經改變的痕跡。

透明也不等於內容的缺席。有些晶體越清楚，越能讓內部微小的轉折被看見。

喜馬拉雅山不需要被轉換成超越世界的象徵。它本身已經是一個足夠強烈的物質系統：地殼持續受力，岩石被抬升，河流切入山谷，而人必須在高度與距離之間找到可以通過的路。

尼泊爾因此提醒我們，形成並不只發生在終點。那些繞路、停頓與被迫改變方向的時刻，也會留在最後的形態之中。

願你在閱讀尼泊爾時，把注意力留給這些經過——不是只看抵達哪裡，而是看一個形態如何穿過改變，仍然成為現在的自己。

If Nepal is read only on a flat map, it is easy to miss its most immediate condition: elevation.

For DIYU, Nepal is better read through the idea of passage.

In terrain with extreme vertical difference, movement is rarely a straight line. Ascent, descent, detour, pause, and choosing another route are all part of crossing the mountains.

This also changes how a crystal can be observed. Inclusions, colour zoning, fractures, and mineral associations do not need to begin as defects or symbols. They can first be read as traces of changing conditions during growth.

Transparency does not mean the absence of content. Sometimes the clearer a crystal becomes, the more visible its small internal transitions are.

The Himalayas do not need to be turned into a symbol of transcendence. They are already a powerful material system: crust remains under stress, rock is uplifted, rivers cut into valleys, and people must continually find routes through height and distance.

Nepal therefore reminds us that formation does not happen only at the destination. Detours, pauses, and forced changes of direction can also remain within the final form.
