Golden Rutilated Quartz is a trade name for transparent to translucent quartz containing golden rutile inclusions.
The quartz host consists primarily of silicon dioxide, while the golden “hairs” are generally rutile. Rutile is a natural titanium dioxide mineral, TiO₂, and may appear golden yellow, reddish brown, copper-red, dark brown, or nearly black. When elongated rutile crystals become enclosed within transparent quartz, their directions of growth remain clearly visible.
Golden Rutilated Quartz is therefore not quartz containing natural gold or metallic titanium. Its appearance comes from the relationship between two minerals: quartz and rutile.
Some rutile inclusions are extremely fine and hair-like. Others are thick and straight, passing through transparent space like golden pillars. Certain specimens contain bundles or radiating groups that resemble stars, flowers, or rays of light. Differences in thickness, density, and orientation have produced numerous commercial names and visual readings.
In the DIYU Reading System, Golden Rutilated Quartz is not read through wealth, but through traces.

金髮晶的石英主體化學式為 SiO₂,屬三方晶系,莫氏硬度為 7;其中的金紅石則為 TiO₂,屬四方晶系。
金紅石可以形成極細的針狀晶體,也可能形成較粗的柱狀、束狀或網狀結構。部分金紅石在石英生長以前已經形成,之後被石英包裹;另一些標本的形成關係可能更加複雜。GIA記錄的星狀金紅石石英中,針狀金紅石便以赤鐵礦為核心向外放射,並在後續被石英保存。

The quartz host has the formula SiO₂, crystallises in the trigonal system, and has a Mohs hardness of 7. Rutile is TiO₂ and crystallises in the tetragonal system.
Rutile may form extremely fine needles, thicker prisms, bundles, or intersecting networks. In some specimens, rutile formed before the surrounding quartz and was later enclosed. Other specimens may preserve more complex relationships between the two stages of mineral growth. In a documented rutile star within quartz, acicular rutile radiated from a hematite centre before being preserved within the quartz host.
Once rutile is enclosed, the original mineral crystals do not disappear. Transparent quartz simply makes their directions, intersections, and arrangements visible.
The rutile may be broadly parallel, crossed into networks, gathered into bundles, radiating from a central point, sparsely distributed through open space, or so dense that the host appears nearly opaque.
Some rutile crystals may also reach or emerge through the quartz surface. In such specimens, rutile does not remain only as an internal inclusion; it creates a direct structural connection between the interior and exterior of the quartz. Rich golden rutilated quartz specimens are well documented from Brazilian localities including Bahia.

Sparse rutile preserves open space and allows each line to be read individually.
Dense rutile transforms the quartz into an intersecting golden network.
Aligned rutile creates a shared direction, while crossed rutile resembles roads, branches, mineral veins, or unorganised thought.
Thick rutile introduces weight, turning delicate lines into pillars moving through space.
Radiating rutile connects a central point with multiple outward directions.
Golden Rutilated Quartz has therefore acquired impressions of direction, connection, penetration, action, light, and unfolding.

長時間閱讀金髮晶的人,常會發現,真正吸引人的並不是金色是否足夠濃,而是每一道線如何在透明空間中保持自己的方向。

Those who spend time observing Golden Rutilated Quartz often discover that its character does not depend upon the deepest gold, but upon the way each line maintains direction within transparent space.
Clear Quartz reveals the interior.
Green Phantom Quartz reveals boundaries formed through interruption and renewed growth.
Golden Rutilated Quartz reveals the paths of another mineral.
Rutile may be straight, curved, crossed, bundled, or radiating. Enclosure within quartz does not dissolve these crystals into a single field of colour, nor does it erase their original directions.
Quartz provides transparent space.
Rutile leaves lines within it.
Some lines share one rhythm. Others cross and create completeness through the coexistence of several directions.
Thick is not automatically stronger than fine, and dense is not necessarily more complete than sparse.
Fine Venus Hair suggests movement and softness. Thick Golden “Titanium” Rutile gives the same idea of trajectory greater weight and structure.

金髮晶|Golden Rutilated Quartz
「金髮晶」是最廣泛的華語市場名稱,通常指透明或半透明石英中含有金黃、黃褐或帶銅色金紅石針晶的材料。
「髮」描述的是金紅石細長如頭髮的形態,不代表包裹體真的具有柔軟性。天然金紅石仍是具有自身晶體結構的礦物,只是因為晶體極細,在透明石英中看起來如線條、纖維或髮絲。
廣義市場有時會將所有金色線狀包裹體石英都稱為金髮晶,但僅憑金色與細長外觀,未必足以確認包裹體一定是金紅石。正式作品命名仍應以可靠供應鏈或礦物檢測為基礎。
Golden Rutilated Quartz
“Golden Rutilated Quartz” is the broadest market name for transparent or translucent quartz containing golden, yellow-brown, or copper-toned rutile needles.
The word “hair” describes their visual form rather than physical flexibility. Rutile remains a crystalline mineral with its own structure, but its extremely fine crystals appear as fibres or strands inside transparent quartz.
In broad commercial usage, almost any quartz containing golden linear inclusions may be sold under this name. However, colour and shape alone cannot always confirm that the inclusions are rutile.
金鈦晶/鈦晶|Golden “Titanium” Rutilated Quartz
「金鈦晶」或簡稱「鈦晶」,通常是華語市場對髮絲較粗、較寬、金屬光澤較強,或分布密集的金髮晶所使用的商業名稱。
市場常將較細的金紅石稱為「髮晶」,把粗大、厚實、片束狀或存在感強烈的金紅石稱為「鈦晶」。但兩者之間沒有公認的礦物學分界,也沒有固定的寬度、密度或重量標準。
The Chinese trade terms “Golden Titanium Quartz” and “Titanium Quartz” are commonly applied to rutilated quartz containing thicker, broader, denser, or more visually dominant rutile crystals.
Fine rutile is often marketed as “hair,” while thicker bundles or blade-like structures are marketed as “titanium.” There is no recognised mineralogical boundary or universal measurement separating the two.
Golden Hair Quartz and Golden Titanium Quartz are therefore usually not separate mineral varieties. They are commercial distinctions based on the visual thickness and weight of rutile.
維納斯髮晶|Venus Hair Quartz
「維納斯髮晶」或「維納斯之髮」是金紅石包裹體石英流傳已久的名稱,英文可見 Venus’ Hair Stone 或 Venus Hair Quartz。
它通常用來形容纖細、金黃、略帶彎曲或柔和交織的金紅石針晶,使人聯想到維納斯的金色長髮。Mindat也將 Venus’ Hair Stone 列為金紅石包裹體石英的傳統同義名稱;巴西Novo Horizonte等產地尤其以細長金色金紅石聞名。
「維納斯髮晶」不是比金髮晶更高的正式等級,也不要求特定產地。它主要是一種歷史與審美稱呼,強調纖細、流動與髮絲般的視覺表現。
Venus Hair Quartz
“Venus’ Hair Stone” and “Venus Hair Quartz” are long-established names for quartz containing fine rutile needles.
The term generally describes delicate golden strands, sometimes slightly curved or softly intertwined, recalling the golden hair of Venus. Mindat records Venus’ Hair Stone as a synonym of Rutilated Quartz, and the Novo Horizonte region of Brazil is especially noted for fine golden rutile described in this way.
It is not a formal quality grade or a locality-restricted variety. It is primarily a historical and aesthetic name.
DIYU Reading
DIYU 不將金髮晶閱讀成財富、權力或成功的來源。
真正值得閱讀的,是一個透明結構如何保存不同方向,而不要求它們全部變得一致。
金紅石不是石英內部的裝飾。
在石英將它們包入以前,它們已經具有自己的晶體形態與生長方向。後來形成的透明石英沒有抹去這些差異,而是讓原本可能分散於岩石中的軌跡,共同留在一個可以被觀看的空間裡。
有些軌跡彼此平行。
有些彼此衝突。
有些從同一個核心出發,最後向完全不同的位置展開。
完整並不一定來自方向統一。
有時完整來自每一條線都保留自己的位置,同時願意與其他方向共同存在。
金色使人聯想到價值,但價值並不由顏色決定。
粗大的金鈦晶也不因為視覺強烈,就必然比纖細的維納斯髮晶更完整。真正需要閱讀的是線條、透明度、密度、留白與整體構圖之間形成的關係。
閱讀金髮晶,不是要求自己找到唯一正確的道路。
而是理解:曾經走過的方向不一定需要被刪除;當不同軌跡都被保留下來,它們便能共同構成現在的結構。
DIYU does not read Golden Rutilated Quartz as a source of wealth, authority, or success.
What matters is how a transparent structure preserves different directions without requiring them to become identical.
Rutile is not decoration placed inside quartz.
Before being enclosed, its crystals already possessed their own forms and directions. Later quartz growth did not erase these differences. It allowed trajectories that might otherwise have remained scattered through rock to coexist within one visible space.
Some paths are parallel.
Some conflict.
Some begin from the same centre and move towards entirely different positions.
Completeness does not always arise from agreement.
Sometimes it appears when every line retains its place while remaining within the same structure.
Gold colour may suggest value, but colour does not determine worth.
Thick Golden “Titanium” Rutile is not automatically more complete than fine Venus Hair. The reading lies in the relationship between line, transparency, density, open space, and composition.
To read Golden Rutilated Quartz is not to search for one correct path.
It is to understand that previous directions do not always need to be erased; when different trajectories are preserved, they can together form the structure of the present.
